Documentary Film

Telenovela Lola - World AIDS Day is commemorated every year on December 1. This year World AIDS Day theme "Access for All and Human Rights" was celebrated not only on December 1, 2010, but before and after the date that any variety of events organized by various communities, organizations and other circles.

One of the activities performed in commemoration of World AIDS Day 2010 is the launching of the Documentary Film titled "Give Us Hope". A documentary film lasts 25 minutes contains about discrimination and stigma against children affected by HIV-AIDS. The film was made by the Children of the Rainbow Lantern - HIV-AIDS Research Center (PPH), Atma Jaya Catholic University in collaboration with National AIDS Commission (NAC), Mug Coffee Production and fully supported by The Body Shop Indonesia. Launching the film is directed by Rhino Ariefsiansyah was held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Building Campus Lt.14 Justin Atma Jaya Catholic University, Semanggi, Jakarta.

Launching the event film also followed by a discussion about the documentary film with speaker Prof. Irwanto, Ph.D. (Children of the Rainbow Lantern Program Coordinator), Mrs. Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, MPH (Secretary of the National AIDS Commission), Ms Rika Anggraini (Social and Environmental Values Manager for The Body Shop Indonesia) and Rhino Ariefiansyah (Director of the Coffee Mug Productions).

A duration of 25 minutes documentary film tells the story of discrimination experienced by some children from the program assisted Lantern Children of the Rainbow, a program of harm reduction of HIV-AIDS on children born from IDU PLWHA orangtuan (injecting drug users). Discrimination received by these children come from a family environment, school and neighbors.

This film tells the story of three families affected by HIV-AIDS. There are family Suhaemi grandmother. Grandma Suhaemi has 3 grandchildren, Raihan, Dava and Haikal in which two of her grandchildren are infected with HIV since birth from parents who are also infected with HIV. Raihan, Dava and Haikal is now an orphan and lived with grandma and grandpa. Discrimination has been received by this family is a rejection of the school. At that Raihan who just want to go to school, was rejected because it was known that her father had died of HIV. Raihan eventually forced to move to another school.

While there are also family Mba Heni. Mba Heni was the aunt (mother's sister) of a boy named Tough. Tough was also an orphan. Sadly, discrimination made by his own family. Some had discriminated Uwak Tough Tough Tough because it considers will transmit HIV to people around him.

And the last is the story of Mirza family. Mirza has a daughter named Puput who are also infected with HIV from her parents since birth. Acts of discrimination Puput obtained from neighbors. One day while playing at a friend's house, Puput requesting a drink, and by his mother, was asked to bring their own cups from home, knowing that Puput infected with HIV.

This film not only tells of discrimination has been received by the children, but also closed with expectations that the community can be more accepting of children affected by HIV-AIDS and they should treat the other children. Hope for these children can continue to grow, supported and given the same opportunity to participate in society.

In this film appears too Dr. Nafsiah Mboi Sp Ak, MPH. as the Secretary of the National AIDS Commission, Dra. Hj. Rohana Manggala, Msi AIDS Commission as the Secretary of DKI Jakarta, and Prof. dr. Fasli Jalal, Ph.D. as Vice Minister of National Education. These figures convey a message related to the call for no discrimination and stigma on children affected by HIV-AIDS. In addition to these figures, there are also the opinions of society on children affected by HIV-AIDS.

The documentary was created as an effort of the Children of the Rainbow Lantern in reducing the adverse impact of HIV-AIDS in children given that the increasing number of children who are newly infected each year and they started to go to school. Prevent the discriminatory treatment they do not get from their environment to help them to live, grow, develop and participate fairly in accordance with the dignity of humanity, and get protection from violence and discrimination that is the right of children as enumerated in Article 4 of Law Decree No. .23 in 2002 on Child Protection.
